SUMMARY:Skymind in Sweden: Resting in the Natural State
DESCRIPTION:Buddhist Teachings on Accessing our True Nature\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSkymind is an invitation to rest into our true nature. In the Buddhist tradition\, this nature is inseparable from the ground of being – vast\, luminous\, and compassionate\, embracing all things like a Great Mother. \n\n\n\nBut how do we recognize the innate wakefulness and primordial wholeness of our true nature? How do we access the ground? “Rest\,” say the teachings\, “rest in the natural state.” \n\n\n\nBuddhist Teachings on Accessing our True Nature\n\n\n\nIn this weekend retreat we’ll practice to embody this deceivingly simple and potent instruction\, guided by key teachings from the 11th-century Tibetan yogini\, Machig Labdrön\, and the non-dual Mahamudra lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThese pith instructions invite us to practice radical acceptance and reveal our capacity to meet whatever we encounter on the journey of life – however beautiful or terrible – with a vast mind and a fiercely loving open heart. \n\n\n\nOur time together includes teachings and discussion\, contemplations to integrate our insights into daily life\, and an introduction to the Skymind open awareness meditation. \n\n\n\nFor those with previous experience in meditation and Buddhism\, this weekend offers a joyful deepening of your path; for those new to meditation\, the weekend offers an entry to the depth and beauty of these teachings and practice.

SUMMARY:Skymind in Germany - Resting in the Ground of Being: Buddhist Wisdom on Death and Dying (Sold Out)
DESCRIPTION:Contemplating death can be a doorway into profound freedom\, inviting us to meet the certainty of our impermanence as a teacher and tremendous opportunity for awakening. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis seminar explores death and dying through the lens of Tibetan Buddhism\, drawing particularly on the teachings of the great 11th century yogini Machig Labdrön. We will look at the many ways we habitually respond to death—avoidance\, anxiety\, fear—and learn how to shift into a fresh\, honest\, and inspired relationship with our own mortality. You’ll be invited to gently reflect on your own death: How do you wish to meet that moment? What state of mind do you want to cultivate when everything familiar falls away? In Machig’s wisdom tradition\, the view is that we can actually recognize and rest into the infinitely compassionate ground of being from which came\, which we have never left\, and which we will dissolve back into. Our practice then is to relax and surrender\, to rest the mind in openness\, ease\, presence\, kindness\, and curiosity both in our everyday life and in preparation for our death. This supportive retreat will include teachings and discussion\, guided contemplations\, and an introduction to the Skymind open awareness meditation. No previous meditation experience is necessary. \n\n\n\nLecture: Friday from 6 pm to 8 pm.Cost: 20 euros.Seminar: Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 6 pm\, Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm.Cost for seminar: 100 eurosplus Dana.

SUMMARY:Reclaiming Wholeness: A Journey into the Enneagram and the Five Buddha Families - Online 8-week Course
DESCRIPTION:with Charlotte Rotterdam & Catherine Bell\n\n\n\nIs your inner weather matching the world outside?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat if the seasons were not only happening around us\, but within us? \n\n\n\nGrowth isn’t a straight line; it’s a cycle. \n\n\n\nIn this eight-week journey\, we move beyond ‘fixing’ ourselves and instead learn to read the weather of our inner lives. By weaving together the ancient wisdom of Tibetan Buddhism\, the psychological depth of the Enneagram\, and the natural rhythms of the seasons\, you’ll discover a map for living that honors mystery and your own innate wholeness. \n\n\n\nA Journey of the Seasons…\n\n\n\nA Unique Dialogue Between Two Wisdom Traditions \n\n\n\nWhere the psychological precision of the Enneagram meets the vast\, energetic landscape of the Five Buddha Families. \n\n\n\nThis is an 8-week journey to align your inner world with the rhythms of life.\n\n\n\nNature’s Wisdom\n\n\n\nAligning your personal growth with the natural cycles of the seasons. \n\n\n\nDeep Awareness\n\n\n\nUsing the Enneagram and Five Buddha Families to see clearly beyond your automatic patterns. \n\n\n\nCompassionate Inquiry\n\n\n\nMeeting your inner weather with presence rather than judgment. \n\n\n\nRadical Wholeness\n\n\n\nRemembering the deeper intelligence that lives within your being. \n\n\n\nMEET YOUR GUIDES:\n\n\n\nCATHERINE R. BELLSession Facilitator\n\n\n\nCatherine R. Bell\, Founder of The Awakened Company and best-selling author\, Catherine has dedicated her life to awakening the inherent humanity within ourselves and our organizations. With decades of experience in the Enneagram and business transformation\, she guides participants with a unique blend of grounded wisdom and fierce compassion\, helping them navigate their inner weather to find radical wholeness. \n\n\n\nLEARN MORE \n\n\n\nCHARLOTTE Z. ROTTERDAMSession Facilitator\n\n\n\nDorje Lopön Charlotte Z. Rotterdam is a senior Buddhist teacher and lineage holder at Tara Mandala who has spent over 20 years teaching at the intersection of spiritual practice and daily life. A master of the Five Buddha Families\, she brings a profound ability to make ancient wisdom both accessible and transformative\, offering a nurturing yet clear presence for those looking to reclaim their innate intelligence. \n\n\n\nLEARN MORE \n\n\n\nWhat if the Seasons Were Not Only Happening Around Us\, But Within Us? \n\n\n\nThis eight-week course explores transformation through the wisdom of the Five Buddha Families from Tibetan Buddhism\, the Enneagram\, and the living rhythms of the seasons. Rather than treating growth as a linear project\, we’ll approach it as cyclical\, embodied\, and ever-evolving. Each season reveals different energies\, patterns\, gifts\, and invitations within our psyche\, our being and our doing. \n\n\n\nDrawing on contemplative tradition\, psychological insight\, and symbolic teaching\, this unique course brings the Five Buddha Families and the Nine Enneagram Points into conversation. The Buddha Families offer a framework for understanding our encumbered patterns and particular forms of wisdom\, while the Enneagram helps us recognize our defaults and wake up from automaticity. Together\, they offer a compassionate map for transforming neurosis into wisdom and living more fully from our innate wholeness. \n\n\n\nOver eight weeks\, we explore how the seasonal cycle mirrors the movement of consciousness: spring inspires creativity\, summer reveals vitality\, fall invites abundance and letting go\, and winter opens us to essence\, stillness\, and presence. This is not a course about fixing ourselves or locking ourselves into fixed types. It is about learning to read the weather of our inner life and to meet each season with greater awareness\, compassion\, discipline\, courage\, and trust.

SUMMARY:Liberation on One Seat: Dentog Chigma Chöd In-person & Online
DESCRIPTION:The profound practice of Dentog Chigma\, “liberation on one seat\,” combines the melodic and rhythmic aspects of traditional Chöd with the visualization and mantra recitation of Tibetan Buddhist deity practice. The practitioner engages with various forms of Machig Labdrön – including a wrathful emanation – through purification\, receiving blessings\, radiant compassion\, and ultimately the awareness of our inseparability from the ground of being. As such\, it is an incredibly dynamic and transformative practice. It is the main sadhana practice within the Rinchen Trengwa\, “Precious Garland\,” the collection of practices in Machig’s oral lineage compiled in the 14th century by Karmapa Rangjung Dorje and Karma Chakme. This specific practice was transmitted by Lama Tsering Wangdu; it is “at the absolute core of Machig’s lineage” according to Lama Tsultrim Allione. \n\n\n\nFormat & Location \n\n\n\nThis retreat will be an in-person retreat hosted by Charlotte and Pieter at a stunning retreat space in the Rocky Mountains above Boulder\, Colorado (See the photos below). It will also be Livestreamed through Tara Mandala for virtual participation. \n\n\n\nFor the in-person retreat in Nederland\, Colorado\, please email us by clicking on More Details here\, and we will provide pricing\, accommodation\, and registration details. To register for the online retreat\, please click below. \n\n\n\nIn this retreat you will have the opportunity to: \n\n\n\n\nReceive the transmission required to do the Dentog Chigma Chöd practice.\n\n\n\nLearn how to do this sadhana practice.\n\n\n\n\nWho should attend?  \n\n\n\n\nThis retreat is open to all. However\, we highly recommend to have previous experience with any Chöd practice (ideally with Chogyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche Chöd). We particularly encourage having prior experience with knowing how to play a Chöd drum.\n\n\n\n\nWhat to Bring? \n\n\n\n\nParticipants will need to have a Chöd drum and bell\, which can be purchased through the Tara Mandala online store or other online suppliers.\n\n\n\nIt is highly encouraged to have a Kangling as well.\n\n\n\n\nIn this retreat\, you will have the opportunity to: \n\n\n\n\nReceive the reading transmission (Tib. lung) and teachings required to do the Dentog Chigma Chöd practice.\n\n\n\nLearn how to practice the Dentog Chigma Chöd sadhana\n\n\n\n\nTentative ScheduleThe schedule provides an overview of the retreat’s flow. SUMMARY:The Garrison Institute: Skymind - Buddhist Teachings on Meeting our World with a Vast Mind & Fierce Heart
DESCRIPTION:A thousand years ago\, Machig Labdrön\, the renowned 11th century Tibetan yogini\, taught that it is only in meeting our fears and shadows that we are able to access the wisdom and peace we so deeply yearn for. We are invited to “go to the places that scare you” – not with armor and aggression but with curiosity and compassion. These ancient insights are grounded in the profound understanding of our fundamental\, indestructible wholeness and the recognition that the sky-like vastness of our awareness can hold and embrace whatever arises. They offer refuge and guidance as we engage a world marked by uncertainty\, confusion\, and even despair. How can we draw on the depths of our innate wakefulness to meet this moment of time with clarity and a fiercely loving heart? Our practice is not to effort/strain more\, but to access\, rest into\, and move from the awakened heart-mind which lies within each of us. In this retreat we draw on Machig’s direct teachings\, practice open awareness meditation\, and cultivate the warmth of community in order to access the spacious brilliance of our minds and the tenderness of our care.
